Selection of Injection Molding Machine
Friends,
I am part of new business unit based out of India (Karnataka) getting into manufacturing PET preforms and we need to decide on a good Injection molding machine for producing PET preforms. 1. Quality, 2. Post sale support service and 3. Price are the parameters I am considering. Please advise which make is worth considering. If you have experienced machines from L&T , Chennai OR Ferromatik Milacron India Ltd. please share your experience.

i agree with Mr Iqbal, Husky would be a ultimate end to find the best solution but price is what makes it a mirage. preform manufacturing can be started at cost effective rate plus since a new market is yet to be understood investing such a huge amount is to thought of 100 times.we are ourselves are looking forward for the same market in Maharashtra and faced the same judgement to make.

Husky machines are the best and more dependable with less downtime. I have 30 years of molding with HPM machines and now I am working on Husky machines .

I forgot about Engel. It is adviceable to buy all together with machine with mould + temperature controls, preform coolers,... The whole package to preventy any surprises and is better to take from a integrator.

well you can consider Arburg for small series Mr. Anand in Mumbai and Netstall or KraussMaffei group which became this or last year.
It depends what you want a cost efective, low downtime, tolerance stable, quality control,...
Sipa (ZOPPAS INDUSTRIES) is to be considered as a option. Because is a solution provider and makes a key in hand solution for a proper price. I was selling IMM for 10 years so I intend my self a little bit.

Your decision should be based upon (1) Most important your budget (2) How many cavities your preform molds are (3) Looking for shorter or normal cycle time (4) Your expertise and know how to trouble shoot machine problems (5) Looking for continuous runs or shorter runs with multiple molds.
If shorter cycle times, zero maintenance issues and no budget constraints are in mind go for any Japanese or Taiwanese brands. I am not recommending European or American brands since they are price wise quite high and performance wise slightly better than Taiwan. You can also consider Chinese machines if you are strong at maintenance and technical side.
In India you have very tough competition and just for few paisas the buyer shifts ... so keep in mind that in the final analysis the buyer of preform and even if you are the converter.... it doesn't matters on what machine they were made.
