Plastic injection mould TCO (total cost of ownership)
Has anybody already worked out a method to define the real mould TCO after it has produced for several years? We always speak about lowering the purchase costs, but at the end of the day, the most important is what it cost till end of its life. This would be really useful to me.
It's sad, but true, most organizations will focus on the purchase cost because it's easy to put a number on on it, and ignore any subsequent or added costs associated with maintenance, machine downtime, effect's of part quality, yield or scrap rates, increase cycle time due to taking the most simple mold design approach....... the list goes on and on.
I'm not sure there is a "one size fits all" method to put a number on TCO because of all the variables and unique issues from part to part or mold to mold.
