Optimize your process of injection of plastic parts
Hello, For my little survey, To optimize your process of injection of plastic parts, do your company always lead a rheological study (ex : Moldflow, Cadflow..)? if not, for which reasons? Thank you!

If u have enough experience how the part is going to fill and the mold design is good you don't need any analysis
now a days we can do analysis of complete mold in Moldex with CFD simulation and in Sigma and it will be possible in Moldflow hopefully
if there is no exp in producing the part Simulation is a must.
Enough experience no simulation needed

Think you for your opinion.

The problem here is most of IMM operater do not want Moldflow/other SW to help them. They think Moldflow is a enemy to make them useless...

Moldflow it should not be considered to support the experience of technicians?
more than a a professional user control, Moldflow can anticipate and reduce rework of molds in the shortest warping, differential shrinkage ... perfectibility that offers a little experience can filland much more ...
What is your view?

Moldflow should be used as decision making tool and It may not take you to exact destiny but sure will lead you in right direction, can overcome the fear moving in right way.
Offcourse will reduce n- number trails and cut short the time

Think of Moldflow as a communications tool. The reason to use Moldflow is to make higher quality parts at a lower cost. Use Moldflow to evaluate different part and mold designs and share them so everyone can have input. Also use it to evaluate the sensitivity of processing conditions on part quality. Moldflow does not replace the skills of designers, engineers, process setup personel or anyone else. Moldflow helps them do there job better and also can be used as a tool for everyone to understand the process better so future problems are avoided or minimized.

In any case all studies results is a idea for your brain.
Without experience it a fake data.
If your know what you search - you can find.
No ideal IMM (all is defferent), no ideal operator and main - no ideal plastic part!

Exactly IMM user thinks wt he she it ding is perfect and they go like this
Actually i have also worked on machnies here
1) 35 cm3/ sec flow rate oo too slow more make it 50 cm3/sec.. and so on
2) holding time zero pressure zero increase check part weight and adjust it
3) cooling time adjust it some how to stay with the actual cycle time which is calculated in mold calulation which is based on just part thickness
4) water flow rate and temp is adjusted
it is purely based experience and so on.........
5) hot runner heat it as long PI controller reached temp so on....

Flow simulation process helps to evaluate designer’s concept and gives a right direction to work.
Also it gives a support for the designer to choose the best choice from his different ideas.
In some case it may also work as a fortune teller…!

For receive adequate result need to have good experience in molding process.
Designer and engineers doesn't have this experience, time and wants to do.
Moreover it's not a cheap.

We run all parts all the time through Moldflow (MPI) ,,, Designers use MPA for up front in the initial product design. Money NOT SPENT because we do it right the first time is the reason ( well at least more often than not ). Using it for trouble shooting an issue in an existing part is useful but should be unnecessary if you did it right the first time. Change the issues in design because you used MF to identify them , or if you cannot due to constraints, then they are not a surprise and you planned for it.
After the fact is useful to identify the issue as a processing one.
