Injection molding process simulation
Hello people,
I would like to know how far injection molding process simulation would be accurate for a material flow behavior that has additive in it. The additive is not filler or fiber.
Thanks,
Shankar.

hi Shankar Venkateswaran
is the identity of additive is a secret? if the simulation software does not understand its properties it will create flaws in the simulation.
anyway, simulation like Autodesk Moldflow for example can be a powerful instrument but can not be taken as reality. sometimes significant deviations might occur.
as for me i always try to cautious when the simulator gives me to sunny forcusts.

The accuracy is depending of material database, if you have the good flow law, it is possible to obtain more than 95% accuracy, at opposite, it is also possible to be 95% wrong

Hi! I have used Interactive Training and Simulation Software from A. Routsis. You could contact Andy Routsis at Routsis Training they have a Simulation program along with many training options to increase your employee’s knowledge base especially in Injection Molding which is where he started. And he works globally. Here is his company information hope it helps!
You won’t find a better way to build the skilled workforce that’s essential to your manufacturing success than the Routsis way.

If the additive affects material flow behavior it should be accounted for in the material tests that are used for characterization as inputs into the simulation solvers.

Hello Shankar, the output (result of simulation) depends on inputs (part's design computing method-3D triangular net, gating, inserts, resin, ect). I understood that resin is a crucial for you. If you can not find the resin in SW's list have the resin analysed - PvT, viscosity, heat capacity, ect.
More accurate inputs give you more accurate output.
Your input is too general to give you precise output.

The simulation would only be accurate if the material used in the input data was taken from a recognized database. If your input data is not correct, than you are shooting in the dark.
