We made 2 sets of custom injection molds for exporting to New Zealand. Export mold is different from the production mold, it must be designed and made to adapt to customer’s machine. In general, injection molds shipped to European must be in HASCO standard, molds shipped to US must be in DME standard, molds in Asia usually is LKM standard.
Basic mold 1 information
Basic mold 2 information
ACO Mold usually do DFM and product analysis before injection mold manufacturing. We confirmed some important information and details with customer, such as parting line, gating method, ejection etc. DFM of this set of injection mold as below:
Before starting up mold making project, there are many details need to be confirmed with customer. Mold class selection is based on production needs. We sent SPI MOLD CLASS definition to customer for choosing, harden steel mold or pre-harden steel mold? Pre-harden steel mold was approved. The specification of customer’s injection machine is very important for mold making. So injection mold maker can design and make the injection molds to adapt to customer’s machine. Customer uses mainly metric, so the injection molds were required to design and make in HASCO standard.
Before mold manufacturing, we did DFM for the manufacturability of the 2 sets of injection mold. After receiving the tooling deposit, ACO Mold started DFM immediately.
After DFM was approved by customer, we did mold design according to the information and details confirmed with customer before. Once the design is approved, we start mold making immediately. We ordered steel and mold base and made injection molds after approving. Mold making progress was regularly reported to customer via sending photos or videos.
After injection molds manufacturing were done, we did T1 test. 5 sets of samples for approval before large volume injection molding were shipped to customer.
Samples all looked excellent, and customer was very pleased with the surface finish. While customer wanted to do some changes on product design. So ACO Mold performed modification based on customer’s updated product design. After modification was done, we shipped new samples for customer’s comments. At last, T2 samples were approved.
Before shipping the 2 sets of injection molds, we disassembled the molds and cleaned them. We prepared the wooden box for packing molds. We shipped injection molds to New Zealand by sea. Document and accessories (a U disk with all the design data and a test video, the NC programming data, the EDM copper) were shipped together with the molds. So customer can take a look all the drawings, video before set up the molds.
After receiving the 2 sets of injection molds, customer set up the molds and did mold trial. The injection molds run great, the 2000 pieces injection molded plastic parts all are nice. ACO Mold was glad to hear it run well and produced great plastic products in mass production.
ACO Mold comments about injection mold for export
Different from production mold, injection molds for exporting have their own mold making standard. Generally, injection mold shipped to European must be in HASCO standard, mold shipped US must be DME standard, and mold operated in Asia usually is LKM standard. We have many satisfied customers from European and America etc. Customer would let us know in advance the mold will be shipped to European or America for large volume plastic injection molding. So the plastic injection molds will be designed and made to adapt to customer’s machine.
