No pictures yet. The water is still standing high and we can't get to the moulds yet. Our idea for now is to wash the moulds from the outside and pack them as airtight as possible for transport. When opening the packing we'll disassemble and ultra sonic wash right away. After that we have to see what can be saved. Any comments on that plan?

yeah, you are doing the right thing, maintain the good components at once upon checking the mold, replace the destroyed ones, no other choices now, we have friends suffurring the same situation. good luck with it.

hi Kristian, i don't think its a big deal if the molds were made of fine steels (specially stavax or other types of nerosta) i have experience of molds being burned down to ground, which is a real catastrophe , just dismantle the molds dry them ,lubricate and replace ejectors if necessary ,i used to clean the burned molds with an acid, semilliar to the one mechanics use to clean pistons ,sand blower (on peripheral plates) im not sure if these methods good also for flooding, i wish you all the good luck, if not,im here for you to make you some new molds....

Hi,Kristian.Don't too worry.I am a professional mould manufacture,too.from China.
My engineer said:
If your moulds were made of good steel such as stainless steel, you don't need worry.
If your moulds were made by other common steel such as P20 or H718.You can disassemble them and clean them by gasoline and then protect them by Antirust.
If rust happened on moulds which are with glazing surface,You maintain them by polishing.
If rust happened on moulds with texture surface, you can maintain them by re-sandblast.Of course, some parts such as hot runner, you have to change it.
In a word,I just offer you a general suggestion.
By the way,we are professional mould maker. We can offer you good mould service. If anything I can help you.
